Verdict: Airbnb needs to release landlord data
The US agent of accommodations Airbnb must issue landlord data in Munich. The authorities may request the data of all private accommodation that has been rented via Airbnb between January 2017 and July 2018 for more than 8 weeks as a holiday apartment, as they have committed an administrative offense.
The Administrative Court of Munich announced on Thursday that a lawsuit (Case M 9 K 18.4553) of the US company had been dismissed against a corresponding order of the city. The verdict is not yet legally binding. The authorities of the Bavarian state capital can thus request the data of all private accommodations at Airbnb for the corresponding period.
In Munich, private apartments, which are offered more than 8 weeks a year as a holiday apartment, are considered to be misused. Providers of such apartment commit thereby a misdemeanor. The provider Airbnb regretted the verdict and announced to want to examine further steps.
