Test: OnePlus 6

For about four weeks, I already have the OnePlus 6, the new flagship smartphone of the Chinese manufacturer OnePlus in use and can not really complain. The new OnePlus 6 has a total of three cameras and the current Android 8.1, here called OxygenOS. Who is worth the purchase of the OnePlus 6, betrays you our test.

The OnePlus 6 comes in a slim case, which has the same dimensions (155.7 x 75.4 x 7.75 mm H × W × D) as its predecessor the OnePlus 5 T. The case of the OnePlus 6 is on the front and back surrounded by Gorilla Glass 5 and includes the 6.28-inch OLED screen with notch. The smartphone has a choice of the three color options, “Silk White”, “Midnight Black” and “Mirror Black”, the latter reflective version is quite vulnerable to unsightly fingerprints. The case has a very small gap and captures the 6.28 inch screen elegance. OnePlus typical, is the slider on the right side of the device, which allows the phone between normal ringing, vibrating and silently quickly and easily switch.

The Amoled screen has an aspect ratio of 19: 9 and is 6.28 inches tall. It displays the contents with a resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels. As usual with most flagship devices today, the OnePlus 6 comes with a notch at the top of the screen. Thus, you have virtually more space on the screen, since the status elements are now on the same level as the selfie camera. For all users who do not want to befriend the notch, you can turn it off in the settings, so then at this point a black bar is displayed. The screen as a whole makes a good impression and is stable.

Performance & Stamina
The memory of the OnePlus 6 is 6 or 8 GB, depending on the model. However, there is only 6 GB RAM for the 64 GB version and 8 GB RAM for the 128 and 256 GB versions. However, the memory sizes also depend on the color. Mirror Black is available in 64 and 128 GB, Midnight Black in 128 and 256 GB, and the white version is only available in 128 GB.

The OnePlus 6 supports a variety of current communication interfaces. For connection to the mobile network, LTE Cat-16 with a theoretical transmission speed of up to 1 Gbit / s in the downstream and 150 Mbit / s upstream with all LTE frequencies used in Germany are available. Domestic communications support 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac 2.4GHz and 5GHz 2 × 2 MIMO WLANs. The positioning systems GPS, Galileo, Glonass and BeiDou are available for navigation and location.

As in its predecessor OnePlus built in the new model, a 3,300 mAh large lithium-ion battery, but the need to provide a slightly larger screen with energy. Thanks to the more economical processor and only a slight increase in screen resolution, the OnePlus 6 still manages to run a full 10 hours of video over Wi-Fi in full screen lighting.

The rear dual camera has a 16 megapixel main sensor (Sony IMX 519) and a second supporting 20 megapixel sensor (Sony IMX 376K), which is responsible for the depth effect in portrait mode. According to the manufacturer, since the main sensor has grown 19 percent, it can also store more image information. The latter thus enables 1.6 times optical and 2 times lossless zooming. Together with the f / 1.7-aperture, better low-light images should be created. In the test, the camera captures enough light with low light to make subjects bright. In most situations, the picture noise is limited.

The portrait mode shows a good depth effect, in which the background around the actual object becomes blurred. This works fine in most cases, but not perfect, as with most cell phones. Ambitious photographers can also switch to OnePlus 6, in the so-called Pro mode, where you can adjust the white balance, ISO and shutter speed manually. Videos can record the OnePlus 6 with maximally 4K and 60 pictures per second and is also here by the.

front camera
The OnePlus 6 front camera, like the OnePlus 5 T, has a Sony IMX 371 16 megapixel sensor with an f / 2.0 aperture. This allows the full HD video recordings with up to 30 frames per second. In addition, the front camera also supports HDR and time-lapse videos, as well as a self-timer.

As with its predecessor, the OnePlus 6 comes with a very minimalist OxygenOS. During our test, there were several updates of the OnePlus own system, which is based on Android 8.1.0.

For friends of wireless music enjoyment, the OnePlus 6 supports Bluetooth speakers and headphones via Bluetooth 5.0. The current standard with a transfer rate of up to 2 Mbit / s and a significantly longer range ensured problem-free playback without dropouts or disconnections. In addition, the smartphone indicates the battery level of the connected device in the Bluetooth settings in percent.

As always, OnePlus fans get the same with the new OnePlus 6, up-to-date hardware, a well-crafted and clean case, which is now even waterproof. The camera of the new is good, but does not represent a revolution dar. In addition, the battery could be a little larger dimensions, if it can be loaded with the included Dash Charger within 87 minutes from 0 to 100 percent. The lack of wireless charging via Qi Wireless is also in vain with the OnePlus. A “flagship killer,” as OnePlus once marketed, is certainly not the OnePlus 6, but a good and solid upper-class smartphone every time.
