Tragl the smart translator in a headset
Communication is fundamental to human relationships and language barriers have always been an obstacle in history, but technology is changing the way we communicate with locals, for example, when travelling abroad. Yes, smartphones, tablets and computers have an impact on how we stay connected, entertained and informed abroad, such as Tragl, the new gadget that has just successfully raised nearly $170,000 at Indigogo, which has the chance to revolutionize the way we communicate with others on the go with artificial intelligence.
At first glance, Tragl looks like a traditional Bluetooth headset with an extended microphone, but it can do much more than just answer calls on the go: the gadget is actually a real-time translator that can translate words in one of up to 30 different languages while listening and translating directly into the ear at the same time – a process that is fast, seamless and precise, making it much easier for travellers to communicate with locals, even if they only have a very basic understanding of the language.
Tragl is one of the first live translators with whom you can talk in a foreign language, almost like the “Universal Translator” at the crew of the Starship Enterprise did on their travels through the cosmic space.
According to the Tragl inventors, the patented audio system allows communication with just one device: Tragl has a front microphone that translates what the other person says, and Tragl translates its own answer and reproduces it via a loudspeaker next to the front microphone, so the other person can understand what the other person is saying without the need for another device.
